The Birth of Jesus Was Prophesied

The birth of Jesus Christ, foretold by the prophet Isaiah 700 years earlier, is a miraculous fulfillment of prophecy. It reveals Jesus as the Light of the world and a sign of God’s love and care for humanity. This message invites reflection on His life and the hope He brings.

One of the most fascinating things we see in the Word of God is that hundreds of years before Jesus Christ came into the world, His coming was foretold. This is remarkable because these aren’t vague predictions where just a name is mentioned in a book. No, these are incredibly precise prophecies.

For example, the prophet Isaiah lived 700 years before Jesus Christ. Imagine, 700 years before Jesus, Isaiah made this prophecy in Isaiah 7:14:
“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God with us.’”

How precise is this prophecy? It doesn’t just say that someone will be born; it says the Lord will give you a sign. So, the birth of Jesus Christ is a sign from God.

Then it says, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son.” But how can a virgin give birth to a child? What kind of prophecy is this? Imagine how amazed the prophet Isaiah must have been when he received this revelation from God: “A virgin will give birth to a son.” How could this be possible?

And think of the people who heard this for the first time. They must have wondered: Is Isaiah speaking the truth? Is he lying? Has he gone mad? What does he mean by saying a virgin will give birth to a son?

Yet we see that this prophecy came true hundreds of years later when Jesus Christ was born. Jesus Christ was indeed born of a virgin. He, the Light of the world, came into the world as foretold by the prophets.

The birth of Jesus Christ is a miracle; it is a sign. And what is this sign? Let’s read that verse again:
“They will call Him Immanuel, which means ‘God with us.’”

In Jesus Christ, we see that God is with us, not against us. God cares for us, loves us, and has not abandoned us. Jesus Christ is the sign of God’s love for you and me.

I hope you come to know Him more. Read the Holy Gospel and see who Jesus Christ is. I wish you a blessed celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ!
