The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the center and foundation of Christian faith. His resurrection from dead is not only a historical event or a theological belief but also demonstrates the power¹, justice², mercy³, and love⁴ of God for humanity. The resurrection of Jesus Christ declares the possibility of salvation and deliverance for all people, including the people of Afghanistan.
In Christian theology, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ represent a link between divine justice and mercy, meaning that God does not tolerate sin but instead punishes it. The punishment for sin is death⁵. We see this on the cross, how Jesus Christ took the punishment for sin upon Himself⁶, and by sacrificing His life, bore our sins and created a way for repentance, return, and reconciliation between man and God. In the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we see that evil, the devil, and sin do not prevail, but rather God, with the power of His Spirit, raised Christ from the dead to show that whoever believes in Him will not only be saved but also have eternal life.
For my people, the people of Afghanistan, who are going through a valley of darkness, despair, and death, the message of the resurrection is a message of hope and comfort. The message of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a path to repentance and changing the direction of life and an opportunity to start life in the light of God's love and mercy. The message of the resurrection is the message of God's victory over dark and demonic forces. I pray that the people of Afghanistan, with faith in Jesus Christ, find a life full of love and hope.
Happy Easter to you!
