Jesus Teaching About Fasting

John’s disciples and the Pharisees are fasting, but Jesus explains that His disciples will not fast while He is with them. He uses the analogy of a bridegroom, stating that it’s not appropriate to fast during times of joy. However, once the bridegroom is taken away, His disciples will fast. Jesus concludes by explaining that new practices, like new wine, require new wineskins, and new teachings must not be forced into old traditions.
