Shoaib: I Became a Christian Because...
Shoaib shares how he used to live a dualistic life: a good person in the inside, but with many hidden sin. Jesus freed him and gave him purpose.
The main reason I became a follower of Jesus Christ was that I had a dual life. In the outward appearance, I was a good person, educated, raised in family of freethinkers, and had many things I was proud of or, as one might say, arrogant about. But deep down, I knew I was a sinner. I had many sins and faults, and I couldn't reconcile my outward and inward selves.
However, when I read that Jesus Christ said, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew, chapter 11, verse 28), I believed in Jesus Christ and found peace. My dual life found unity of purpose in Jesus Christ: devoted to serving Him. Truly, today my honor lies only in Jesus Christ, and my vision and desire is to convey this same message of Jesus to others, especially to our fellow Afghans.
This is the duty entrusted to us by Jesus Christ.
